POWER IN THE BLOOD

Romans 5:9 – “Since we have been justified by His Blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him.”

Introduction:-

The three dimensions of the Blood of the Lamb:

1) The Historical Dimension    This dimension refers during the period of time some 2000 years ago during which Jesus lived on earth and suffered indignities, wounds and bloodshed.   This was a relatively short space of time but the most significant period ever to have occurred in the history of the world.   When Jesus took humanity’s sins upon Himself at Calvary – once and for all – mankind was given the ability to be reconciled with its Creator.   We can draw close to God in a relationship of love that He intended.

2) The Eternal Dimension
The sufferings of Jesus exist in a timeless dimension.
Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
Revelation 13:8 – “The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
God preordained Jesus’ sufferings in eternity, and it is also considered complete in all of eternity.  Jesus’ Blood is sufficient and God’s mercy is extended to humanity in all of time and space.

3) The Continuing Dimension   The shed Blood of Jesus is an ongoing provision for those who have trusted in Him.  It should be applied to the lives of believers throughout the world.  We are God’s redeemed people and we need to proclaim the One perfect sacrifice of Jesus and His Blood.   The ongoing commemoration of Christ’s death and shed Blood was given to us by Jesus Himself at the last Passover.   Without the Blood, none of us have a relationship with our Heavenly Father or live in victory over temptation, sin and the enemy.

Seven Blood Offerings:
Leviticus 16:14 – “[The high priest] shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.”
Since the Old Testament sacrificial system prefigured New Testament reality, this rite was an allegory of the seven times Jesus would shed His Blood on our behalf during His suffering.

 1.     Sweat drops of Blood

Luke 22:44 – “And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of Blood falling to the ground.”
 2.     Struck on the face
Matthew 26:67 – “Then they spat in His face and struck Him with their fists. Others slapped Him…”
Micah 5:1 – “They will strike Israel’s ruler on the cheek with a rod.”
Isaiah 52:14 – “…His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and His form marred beyond human likeness.”
3.     Scourging / flogging
Matthew 27:26 – “…But he had Jesus flogged, and handed Him over to be crucified.”
Isaiah 50:6 – “I offered my back to those who beat me….”
 4.     Piercing thorns
Matthew 27: 29, 30 – “and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt in front of Him and mocked Him. “Hail, King of the Jews!” they said. They spat on Him, and took the staff and struck Him on the head again and again.”
 5.     Beard plucked out
Isaiah 50:6 – “I gave…..My cheeks to those who pulled out My beard.”
 6.     Crucifixion
Psalm 22:16 – “…they have pierced My hands and My feet.”
Mark 15:24 – “And they crucified Him…”
  7.     Pierced with a spear
Zechariah 12:10 – “They will look on Me, the One they have pierced…”
John 19:34 – “…one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of Blood and water.”

By the Blood of Jesus we have these wonderful provisions: -
·        We receive the remission/forgiveness of our sins

[Matthew 26:28]

·        We are completely washed of our sins [Revelation 1:5]
·        We are redeemed [Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14]
·        We are justified before God [Romans 5:9]
·        We are brought near to God [Ephesians 2:13]
·        We have peace with God [Colossians 1:20]
·        We are cleansed in our consciences [Hebrews 9:14]
·        We are made holy and set apart for God [Hebrews 13:12]
·        We can have new boldness to approach God and ask for His

help [Hebrews 10:19]

·        We can have an ongoing cleansing from sin [1 John 1:7]
·        We can overcome the enemy [Revelation 12:11]

1.  The Blood provides REDEMPTION [new ownership]

Romans 3:23-24 – “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
Romans 5:8, 9 – “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by His Blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him!”

Revelation 12:11 – “They overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

4.  The Blood provides FORGIVENESS [new person]

 5.  The Blood provides CLEANSING /PURIFICATION [new mind]

1 John 1:7 – “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”
Revelation 1:5 – “ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His Blood.”
Hebrews 9:14 – “How much more, then, the will the Blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the Living God!”

 6.  The Blood provides RESURRECTION & ETERNAL LIFE [new life]

7.  The Blood provides PEACE [new state/condition]

Isaiah 53:5 – “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”
Colossians 1: 19-20 – “For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His Blood, shed on the cross.”
Ephesians 2:13 – “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the Blood of Christ.”
Romans 5:11 – “Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”
John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Philippians 4:6,7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

There is no questioning the Power of the Blood of the Lamb. Jesus shed His Blood that you and I may have access to the holy presence of God, the Father. May the power of the Blood be evident in your life as you live under His covering.
